We've just been weighed again. I forget the exact values, but we're both over 6lbs now. Bloaters. (Though... a woman last month in Wandsworth had triplets at 38 weeks weighing 5lbs, 5lbs, and 6lbs. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she elected for a caesarean.)

Baths

First shot at bathing them today...

For all those hopeful twin-watchers - just a note to say that I am afraid the video footage of bilateral breastfeeding was vetoed by the supporting actress!

Out for our first walk today! May not sound exciting, but it's certainly a little ominous the first time you do it... Still, it turns out that they actually fall instantly asleep, even if they were grumpy beforehand!

Aaaaaaaaaaah, last night, conversely, was - quite literally - a dream! We all hopped off to bed at 10.30ish, Tamsin fed the girls, I slept. Tamsin fed the girls again at 12ish. I slept. Fed again at 4ish. I slept. Fed again at 8ish. Still I slept. The loneliness of fatherhood. Slept til 10am actually which, to my mind, is fairly civilised...

Oh dear. We don't like this house very much! Both girls had eyes like dinner plates as soon as we got into the house and required constant breast feeding in order to keep them from crying! I have never listened to Just a Minute at four in the morning before. Happily we fell asleep just afterwards. Don't tell the midwives but we all slept in a heap on the bed, me inhaling Rosie's hair and Tamsin, my feet.

WE ARE HOME!

Strewth. I've escaped for half an hour. Having babies is hard work innit? We were both up pacing around a small room with a whingey baby until 3am, then up at 6.30 with the bloody sun (and babies, of course...)
Still. Wouldn't give it up for the world!

PS First go at breast-feeding two babies at once last night! I have pictures. In fact - I have video! However, I feel ethically obliged to consult the wife before posting her bare knockers on the internet...!

[Holly]

[Rosie]

Wooah! Rosie's tube is out. By the time I get back, Holly's tube will be out. Then tomorrow we move into hospital lock, stock, the... er... lot, and look after our babies singlehanded for about 2 days. After which we come HOME! Wa-hay!

New Year's Day. Heavens - we seem to have moved to Nursery Four; the departure lounge if you like. The deeply-partied nurse reckoned on them being at home (in our cold house) sometime next week. Then the sense of being a parent will really kick in, won't it?!
